7 Days To Die Wiki

Type Description
Mods and Modlets Both mods and modlets follow the same basic file structure. These can be identified by the ModInfo.xml file located at the root of the mod archive. Each mod will be placed in its own folder inside the 'Mods' folder in the game directory.

Below is the recommended file structure to use when uploading a mod of this type:

Overwrite mods These mods directly overwrite content in the base game. Currently, Vortex cannot install these mods for you.

To download any of these mods click either the 'Vortex' button in the top right of the mod page or the 'Mod Manager Download' button on the files tab.

Once all the files are in Vortex, install them and ensure the mods are deployed. You can then start the game using the play button in the top-left of Vortex.

Adjusting the load order

In some cases, you may need to adjust the order you mods are loaded in. The game handled this by alphabetical folder name. Vortex can automate the process in the 'Load Order' tab. Drag the mod names into the order you wish to set, then switch back to the mods tab and click deploy to save changes.

Can I stop the admin prompts when deploying mods?

The admin prompts are caused by Vortex's Symlink deployment. This is often selected as the default, however, you can switch to Hardlink deployment under 'Settings', then 'Mods'. You can learn more about the different deployment options here.
